About me

I'm a new mum with a very active little boy, aka "The Kraken".  But beyond being a mum, I'm an active person and one of my passions is skiing.  I have been skiing since grade school and took all the Nancy Green levels as a child and raced poorly as a teen.  Since then, I have moved closer to the mountains and have discovered the joy of skiing the big mountains - variable terrain and powder.  Skiing is a sport that I share with my husband, Chris.  To the extent that we were married at Sunshine Village Ski Resort.  Chris skied the day of the wedding, and we had fresh tracks together the next morning.  Before the arrival of our son we were on the hill weekly.  Can it get better than that?!  We've talked more than once about when we will be getting the little man on skis.  Does he have to be able to walk before he skis?

I have found that getting information that is women specific on ski gear can be hard at times.  Chris has a long standing history in the industry, aka, addiction to skiing.  He moonlights in a local ski shop and does demos with many local ski reps.  He's a great source of tips and he loves to suggest gear for me.  This work on Chris' part also gives me access and insight into a wide range of gear, I love learning about the new products every year and checking it out when the shops gets them in.  While his advice is great, he's still not coming at it from a female perspective.  So I wanted to share my insights on many ranges of ski gear, but from a women's perspective.

I don't pretend to be the best skier on the hill.  I can hold my own on most terrain and get down, whether is be side slipping, yelling at my husband, or "digging deep" and pulling out some sweet turns.  I'm small, 5'1", but also fit, so I can power skis to some extent, but don't have the size or weight that others do.  I think this gives me a unique insight into the gear and how to make it work for many skiing levels and body types.

Please enjoy what I have to say and share your ideas and insights.
